Client:	The Matisko Group Helping the landscape architect redesign. Already the owner of a successful landscaping and maintenance business called MGM Landscaping, Matt Matisko faced an additional challenge when he received his state certification as a landscape architect.
Challenge:	The question now was how, exactly, to take full advantage of this new service offering? We were hired to develop the marketing strategy. But as we uncovered more about the particulars of the different markets being served, another important question came up: should MGM be branded with this new high-end service or should another company be created altogether?
Solution:	After many discussions about the merits of each strategy, Matt created a second company. MGM would focus on landscaping, construction and maintenance, while The Matisko Group would focus on high-end landscape design. We recommended improvements to how each company should conduct business. We created and instructed around a distinct advertising strategy for both, including the use of print, broadcast, outdoor, special event and web. While we developed the strategy, we explained to the client why we were making the specific recommendations and, more importantly, how to evaluate the various options presented. The methods we used were strategies the client could internalize and duplicate. We also recommended and helped put together an advisory group of colleagues and peers to help the entire company grow. The company is also learning how to write, source, plan and execute their own public relations.
Results:	Ultimately, our process helped the owner decide exactly what type of business he wanted to run and in what markets. "The creative brief was amazing," says Matt Matisko. "It opened our eyes to aspect of the business we had not considered. We're now ready to tackle marketing our businesses and grow both companies."
