Client: Twinsburg City School District The district services 4000+ students in three communities, has 500+ employee and a budget of approximately 35 Million.
Challenge: The administration and Board of Directors realized they needed to better engage the community in the district's activities and gauge the opinions of their parent, resident and student constituencies around upcoming levies and labor negotiations. The Board was concerned about how the district was perceived by the voting and non-voting public. Solution: We provided the district with ongoing public relations and community engagement consulting to develop consistency in message and create open dialog between all parties. Additionally, we identified the need to have as many of the districts staff aware of how the media operates and how to engage reporters for maximum effectiveness and reputation management. To date, we have conducted media training sessions for the district's administrators and coaching staffs. Working closely with the superintendent of the district, Felber & Felber has helped the district prepare for accurate information dissemination and crisis response. Additionally, online surveys were conducted with results being reported in several 'State of the Schools' public meetings. Results: "We gained tremendous insight into how we and the issues our community faced were viewed," stated Jim Jones, Superintendent of schools. "Our media interviews and communication became clear and consistent and resulted in successfully passing levies and labor contracts."
