2007 is over, so what did I do all year?
- by Bruce Felber, Felber & Felber Marketing
My goals heading into 2007 were to shorten the cycle of responsibilities and streamline execution of client prospects. In regards to Felber & Felber, I wanted to increase our penetration with current clients all the while continuing to grow our manufacturing clients. My aim was to dive more into big picture marketing in order for my clients to better reach their potential. Helping to complete client's expectations on time and raising their results became my first priority.
As the year went on, my priorities seemed to change but my vision remained constant. My priorities changed to meet the client's changing needs as well as adjusting to the economic changes. My biggest challenge was organizing my time, and that is on the list for 2008 to improve.
I also found myself striving to constantly educate myself within industries we are involved in. I continue to find that participating in seminars, educational events, and even teaching others or simply being involved with various organizations are all very rewarding. Giving back to industries and the communities I work and live in is very important to me and I make every effort to be actively involved.
I did learn some things in 2007 that actually surprised me. I tried sauerkraut for the first time and it wasn't as bad as I thought! But, in all seriousness, technology surprised me. It's not all that bad! I became more involved with it and incorporated technology and business within certain parameters. It made my life a little bit easier. Besides my ever-growing need to learn technology and software programs, the biggest thing that I learned was when to ask for help and when it is necessary to call an expert.
One of the highlights of 2007 was being asked to be an instructor at the Promotional Products Consultant Academy. All of the excitement from taking people with as little as 30 days of experience up to over 20 years of experience and leading them was incredible. I am looking forward to working with all of those people again. It was a sense of accomplishment and teamwork—I can't wait to do it again. That has to be one of the things I am looking forward to most in 2008, having the opportunity to work with my fellow instructors at Promotional Products Consultant Academy again. The academy is going to be held twice this year and I am hoping to be a part of it both times.
My advice for 2008: everyone should get involved in their local community whether it is joining a chamber, Kiwanis, Rotary, etc.—get involved to make it better. And always remember—Albert Einstein defined insanity as "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
